RO and RODI are not the same thing
An RO system uses a reverse-osmosis membrane to remove most dissolved material. An RODI system sends that RO water through deionization resin to polish the remaining dissolved ions down to zero TDS when the resin and system are working correctly.
That distinction matters here because the AquaReady three-stage system is RO-only. It is useful for drinking water and can be a sensible option when you make very little water, but it is not my first choice for a reef aquarium. For reef-tank source water, I normally want the final DI stage.

Before you buy: test the water and pressure
Check your tap-water TDS, disinfectant, and pressure first. City water may use chlorine or chloramine; well water can have different sediment and dissolved-gas challenges. A dual-membrane water-saver system requires more pressure and can consume DI resin faster when the source-water TDS is high.
If your home cannot maintain the manufacturer’s minimum pressure, add a compatible booster pump or choose a system that fits the pressure you actually have. Also plan where the clean-water line, drain line, and storage container will go before mounting anything.
